ALPHARETTA, Ga., June 20, 2016– P&F USA, a Philips brand license partner, today announced that the Ultra HD Blu-ray version of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema’s “Creed” will be bundled with the new Philips BDP7501 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player, on sale later this month.
P&F will offer the “Creed” Ultra HD (UHD) Blu-ray Combo pack from MGM and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment as a bonus with purchase of the Philips BDP7501 from June through September. The Combo Pack includes an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with the feature film in 4K with HDR, a Blu-ray disc with the feature film and special features in HD, and a Digital HD version of the feature film.
The new Philips BDP7501 plays back content at four times the resolution of HD Blu-ray players for a stunningly detailed image. And with HDR support, content played on an HDR TV, such as any Philips 2016 4K Ultra HD set, delivers images with startling brightness, contrast and color.
“We’re very pleased to offer buyers of our new Ultra HD Blu-ray player the opportunity to immediately enjoy all of the benefits that 4K and HDR provide by including ‘Creed’ with the purchase of the player,” said Karl Bearnarth, executive vice president, sales and marketing, P&F USA, Inc., the exclusive North American licensee for Philips consumer televisions and home video products. “4K Ultra HD Blu-ray provides consumers with the opportunity to own and enjoy stunning 4K content without the uncertainties that can occur when streaming large 4K files, and MGM and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s UHD release of ‘Creed’ delivers the full benefit by combining 4K resolution with the brighter, deeper, more lifelike colors that HDR provides.”
From award-winning filmmaker Ryan Coogler comes “Creed.” The film reunited Coogler with his “Fruitvale Station” star Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Johnson, the son of Apollo Creed, and explores a new chapter in the “Rocky” story, starring Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone in his iconic role as Rocky Balboa.
“Creed” also stars Tessa Thompson (“Selma,” “Dear White People”) as Bianca, a local singer-songwriter who becomes involved with Adonis; Phylicia Rashad (Lifetime’s “Steel Magnolias”) as Mary Anne Creed, Apollo’s widow; and English pro boxer and former three-time ABA Heavyweight Champion Anthony Bellew as boxing champ “Pretty” Ricky Conlan.
Coogler directed the film from a screenplay he wrote with Aaron Covington, based on a story by Coogler. The film is produced by Irwin Winkler, Robert Chartoff, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, Kevin King-Templeton and Sylvester Stallone, alongside executive producer Nicolas Stern.
The Philips BDP7501 will be available later this month at a suggested retail price of $399.95, and will include the “Creed” Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack through September 30.
