Funai Electric Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nakagaito, Daito-City, Osaka, Japan; President and CEO: Tetsuro Funai) has obtained an international standard "ISO/IEC 27001:2005" and a Japanese domestic standard "JIS Q 27001:2006" for the information security management system of information system division on November 2, 2006.
Funai makes a judgment that the ensuring of information security is the commitment to consumers and stockholders in view of growing dependent on electric commerce, and attempts to establish the information security management system. Consequently, Funai obtained the two certifications "BS7799" and "ISMS ver.2.0" in November, 2005. Funai has accomplished the shifting from these two certifications to the above-mentioned new certifications this time.
Funai maintains increasing the quality of our information security management system and confidence in our customers and stockholders.
• Background of the certification acquisition
The damage or Loss of the information security accident expands significantly while increasing the business efficiency along with an advancement of IT revolution, and the after-the-fact policy alone no longer continues business or profit. The management is therefore required to minimize the possible risk by establishing the information security management system.
• About the BS7799
It is a British standard for the information security which was originally published in 1995, and aimed at providing not only technical measures of the information security but also an effective model of operation including people management and organization management. This has been adopted as an international standard, "ISO/IEC 27001:2005" in October, 2005.
• About the ISMS
The ISMS is a conformity assesment schime for information security measures by a third party organization. The standard is officially operated by the Japan Information Processing Development Corporation (JIPDEC) from 2002 with a view to enhancing the information security in Japan. "JIS Q 27001:2006" has been released as a Japanese standard in May, 2006.
